Miami plastic surgeon Sean Simon, MD, who has safely performed thousands of BBL surgeries, also believes the Florida Board of Medicine should take a closer look at these facilities where repeated complications have occurred.
"If there is one takeaway for me, it's that the Board should investigate the specific surgery centers where this is happening. The one thing that can save lives would be to remove the Florida Department of Health as the group that accredits these surgical centers and require that the operating room accreditation come from the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities."
